A summary of the Census Tract Boundary specification.
1.0 Introduction
The Census Tract datasets are reported once per year by the United States Census. The data reflect the census tracts in the defined search region. The dataset is available to download through the Urban SDK Data Hub for the years 2015 - 2020.
Census Tract Definition
Census tracts are divisions of a county. Census tracts are relatively unchanging boundaries as defined by the Census. The population of a census tract falls between 1,200 and 8,000 people, with the ideal population being 4,000 people.
